Can foggy windows be repaired?
Yes, but not by fixing the old seal. The repair for a fogged window is new glass: the failed sealed unit comes out of the sash and a new one, made to size, goes in, while your frame stays put. Defogging only dries the gap. The broken edge seal and the lost insulating gas stay that way.

What a foggy window repair replaces
The part that fails is the sealed unit: two sheets of glass bonded to an edge spacer. Once moist air gets past it, nothing can make it airtight again. So we measure the glass, have a new unit built to match and fit it in the same sash, leaving your frame and trim alone.
Defogging services drill small holes, dry the space and plug them. The NFRC consumer guide notes that a failure of the insulating glass unit seals releases all of the gas. Drying the gap does not bring that gas back.
When a foggy window needs more than glass
New glass is the right fix when the frame and sash are sound. If the sash is rotted, the frame is warped or the window will not open or lock, we tell you so at the free estimate.
